What is a crocodile?
"Crocodile" is the name commonly given to the 23 species of crocodilians that exist in the warm regions of the planet. However, 3 families make up the order of Crocodilians:
· Crocodilidae with mainly crocodiles;
· Alligatoridae including alligators and caimans;
· Gavialidae including gharial.
Tetrapod (four members) oviparous (lays eggs), the crocodile is ectothermic; this means that his body temperature is not constant but depends on his environment. The crocodile spends most of its time regulating its temperature and reaching about 30 °!
